Week 6: Curation

My TOP THREE favorite items from this week are:

>>>> Dialogue Help
I think this will help me depict more emotions in my stories in a different way rather than just explicitly stating the emotions.

I didn't know how important sentence length was until I read this post from Tumblr!

People write scary stories and post it on this site! It's scary, but I can't stop myself from reading them!

Week 4: Curation

My three favorite items from this week are:

The God Checker Website.
I thought it was so cool that there is an entire website dedicated to information of mythological gods! There are gods from a plethora of cultures--such as Oceana, Tibetan, Celtic, and so many more! You can find out information such as how to pronounce the god's name, alternative names, location, power, and even a good/evil rating (which I thought was hilarious). Here is a screenshot of one of the "facts and figures" charts! It doesn't have just this though!

This is a Tumblr blog by Ed Kwong that is dedicated to making art of various mythological creatures such as Leviathan, Cipacli, etc. I liked the artwork style and I think it would be useful for a classmate's storybook or portfolio.

I found a gorgeous picture of Yuki-onna for my own storybook and I wanted to share that. This digital art is so elegant and detailed and the artist captures the ghostly aura that Yuki-onna gives off all the while maintaining her infamous beauty.

Week 3: Curation

This week I found:
  • DeviantArt
    • This is such a great site to look at and share artwork. There are so many talented artists on this site that create wonderful and original masterpieces that I can incorporate into my blogposts.
  • Reddit: Mythology and Folklore
    • I found this while going through Reddit and it's so cool to read about people's opinions about a certain myth or folklore.
  • Pinterest:
  • "Dragon Drama" posted by 'Diane Taxdahl'. Source: Pinterest.

    • My favorite pinterest pic this week. The use of all the colors of the rainbow is gorgeous and it's amazingly detailed!

Week 2: Curation

Here are some interesting posts that I found this week!

10 Famous Japanese Ghost Stories
As I was browsing for inspiration on my Storybook, I came across this post about Japanese ghosts, which I think will be a good source for my book.

Greek and Roman Gods

This picture from Pinterest was pretty useful to me while I was doing my reading this week. It helped me brush up on my Classical gods.

I also found this on Pinterest and I think this would be useful when I start reading for the Biblical unit of this course!

Week 1 Curation

I am very familiar with the act of bookmarking websites. I use three different browsers (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) that each have a different purpose and their own set of bookmarks. For example, my Safari browser is the one I use the most to do schoolwork; therefore, on my bookmark toolbar I have instant access to oZone, D2L, Myth/Folklore, etc. On the other hand, my Chrome browser is mainly used to for entertainment, so I have YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, and various social media outlets on the toolbar. For most of my online resources, I use my bookmarks and it's working quite well for me. If I deem something important, it's definitely going to have a bookmark. If not, then... I can always search for it in my history!

Out of the three curation spaces mentioned, I am only familiar with Twitter. I do have a twitter account that is gathering digital dust out there somewhere because I am sometimes too lazy to post on there. The only time I go on Twitter now is to check @FreeFoodatOU and @OUParking. I know what Pinterest is, but I have never made an account or explored it to see what it is all about. I am completely unfamiliar with Known. I think the curation space that I like the most would be Tumblr, which is what I currently use just because it has a simple interface (which basically consists of liking, blogging, and reblogging). I think I would like to use Pinterest since it is more of a visual social platform.
